Ukrainian Canadian Congress opens national office in Ottawa

The Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) will inaugurate its National office and hold its board meeting in Ottawa on February 25-26, 2012.

The National Office will be led
by UCC Executive Director Taras Zalusky, a long-time policy advisor and chief-of-staff to many Ministers of the Crown.

"Our national office in Ottawa will allow the Ukrainian community to be better informed as well as play a major role in educating government, policy makers and other national organizations based in our Nation's Capital," said Zalusky.

Along with the National Office inauguration, a number of related UCC events will take place in Ottawa on that weekend:
  • Day-long planning session of the UCC Executive Committee on February 24, 2012.
  • The UCC Board of Directors will conduct its two day meeting from February 25-26th
  • "Including Holodomor education in the school curricula" information session will be conducted by Ms. Valentina Kuryliw, Chair of the UCC's National Holodomor Education Committee, at the Ukrainian hall 913 Carling Ave on Friday, February 24, 2012 at 7:30 p.m.
  • Community Town Hall Meeting on the topic of the "Importance of Ottawa's Ukrainian community to UCC National's success" on Saturday February 25, 2012, at 913 Carling Avenue at 7:30 p.m. All community members are encouraged to attend.
The National office of UCC will be officially opened on at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 26, 2012, at 130 Albert - Suite 806 in the presence of clergy, political leaders and members of the community.

"This office has been in the works for a long time and it is thanks to the vision of the UCC Board and the generosity of our donors that this has become a reality," said UCC President Paul Grod.
